Public and Media Relations

Public and Media Relations is the University of Oregon's primary office for news, as well as internal and marketing communications.

Professionals in our office provide a wide range of services to journalists; the campus community; and the general public. In addition to providing news and comment about current events and breaking news on campus, the office details the cutting-edge work of scientists and researchers at the UO. We can assist members of the campus community in developing detailed communication strategies for long-term projects or quick interviews. We are glad to answer general queries from the public about the campus and its operations and to direct callers to appropriate locations.

The news was international within 15 minutes of a media embargo. Jenkins found human "droppings" in Oregon's Paisley Caves, and leading experts on human DNA determined the, er, poop came from people living 14,300 years ago.
