Sunday, Nov. 25 -- 3 p.m.
The university Chamber Music Series (CMS) continues its 40th season with the Waverly Consort’s presentation of "The Christmas Story" at 3 p.m. in Beall Hall, Music Building, 961 E. 18th Ave. Reserved tickets, ranging from $16 to $36, are available in advance from the Hult Center, 682-5000, or the EMU ticket office, 346-4363.

Each season the Waverly Consort tours "The Christmas Story," a program that illustrates the Biblical narrative as conveyed by music manuscripts and illuminated miniatures of the Middle Ages. Since its premiere at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1980, this seasonal offering has become a favorite of audiences throughout North America.

Monday, Nov. 26 -- 11:54 a.m. -- 12:08 p.m.
SoundBytes, a short, weekly series of new music will be presented at Collier House, 1170 E. 13th Ave. Admission is free. The Nov. 26 program will feature university saxophone professor Idit Shner.

Monday, Nov. 26 -- 8 p.m.
The Collegium Musicum, directed by Eric Mentzel, will give a concert of unaccompanied vocal music from the 13th and 14th centuries. Concert time is 8 p.m. at the Central Lutheran Church, 1857 Potter St. Admission is free. The program will contain seldom-heard medieval masterpieces by Guillaume de Machaut and Francesco Landini. This often-overlooked music is full of rich sonorities as well as some surprising dissonance and chromaticism. A set of 13th-century motets from the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris will round out the program.

Monday, Nov. 26 -- 8 p.m.
The School of Music’s popular Jazz Café presents an evening of jazz combos in a cabaret setting, beginning at 8 p.m. in Room 178, Music Building, 961 E 18th Ave. Tickets, available at the door, are $5. Light refreshments will be available for purchase during the evening. The program will include selections by Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Bill Marsh, Jeff Lovell, Dizzy Gillespie and Dave Swigart, including some arrangements for five guitars.

Tuesday, Nov. 27 -- 8 p.m.
The Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble (ECCE), conducted by Scott Ordway, will present a concert at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall, Music Building, 961 E. 18th Ave. Admission is free. ECCE is a group of student performers who are interested in bringing to life rarely heard repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries. Selections include Milhaud’s “La Création du Monde”; “Trapanese: Three Pieces for Sextet”; and the world premiere of “Chamber Symphony No. 1, Consternation” by university graduate composer Jesse Jones.

Wednesday, Nov. 28 -- 7 p.m.
The university Department of Dance presents Dance Quarterly, a program of works in-progress by graduate and undergraduate dance majors. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Dougherty Dance Theatre, third floor of the Gerlinger Annex, 1484 University St. Admission is free. The performance is an informal showing of composition and improvisational class work, as well as other performance-based dance projects.

Wednesday, Nov. 28 -- 8 p.m.
The University Symphony, directed by professor Wayne Bennett, will give a concert at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall, Music Building, 961 E 18th Ave. Tickets, available at the door, are $7 general admission, $5 for students and senior citizens. The program features two works: Respighi’s “Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite III” and Beethoven’s famous “Symphony No. 5." The Respighi suite, based on early lute songs and pieces for baroque guitar, is arranged for strings only, displaying Respighi’s gift of exotic orchestration.
