UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History to host Identification Day
Visitors are invited to shake the dust off of their mystery items and find out more about them.
EUGENE, Ore. -- (April 7, 2008) -- Specialists from the University of Oregon and the community will be on hand to provide details about mystery items such as baskets, bones and fossils during the Museum of Natural and Cultural History's annual Identification Day, Saturday, April 19.
The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, 1680 E. 15th Ave.
The experts will try to determine the age, use and origin of objects brought in by area residents. One mystery that won't be solved, however, is the value of the items. No appraisals will be provided at the event.
Visitors also will be able to see current exhibits, including Cultural Horizons and Walk a Mile in These Shoes – The Stories They Tell. More information about the museum is available at http://natural-history.uoregon.edu.
Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members, university faculty and staff and students are admitted free. Admission is free for the public on Wednesdays.
