UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History to host volunteer open house
Community members are encouraged to volunteer at the museum
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Dec. 31, 2008) – The Museum of Natural and Cultural History will host a volunteer open house on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Community members are invited to learn more about volunteer opportunities and benefits from 4 to 5 p.m. at the museum, 1680 E. 15th Ave. Staff members will answer questions and provide information about the museum during the free event.
Volunteers -- who are essential to the museum's mission -- participate in many day-to-day activities, which include leading school and community tours, staffing the museum store, assisting at special events and answering questions about the exhibit hall. Museum volunteers enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community, meet people with similar interests and continue to learn about the natural and cultural history of Oregon.
Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under; and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members, university faculty and staff and students are admitted free. Admission is free for the public on Wednesdays.
