UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History hosts Archaeology Family Day
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Feb. 7, 2008) -- The University of Oregon’s Museum of Natural and Cultural History will offer hands-on activities that explore the field of archaeology on Saturday, Feb. 23.
Visitors will learn about archaeology through fun activities such as "excavating" candy from a cookie, playing Archaeology Quest to unearth Oregon artifacts and being a detective on a Cultural Scene Investigation. In addition, participants can explore the museum exhibit hall, watch a short film and create their own rock art.
Archaeology Family Day will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, 1680 E. 15th Ave. The museum will offer new memberships for half price on family day.
Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and youths ages 17 and under and $8 for families (two adults and up to four youths). Museum members, university faculty and staff and students are admitted free. Admission is free for the public on Wednesdays.
