University of Oregon music school welcomes Liszt scholar Alan Walker

EUGENE, Ore. -- (Jan. 17, 2008) -- Alan Walker, a noted authority on Austrian composer Franz Liszt, will be in residence at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance from Monday, Jan. 28, through Sunday, Feb. 3.
Walker, who specializes in the music of the Romantic Era, is the author of a three-volume biography of Liszt. He is a professor emeritus of music at McMaster University in Canada and was previously a staff member of the music division of the British Broadcasting Corporation in London.

Opens with a short lecture on" Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1," "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 3" and "Les Préludes," followed by the UO Symphony performance of those works, featuring Alexandre Dossin on the piano concerto.
