UO's Mad Duckling Theatre presents 'Jungle Book' at Amazon Park
EUGENE, Ore -- (July 17, 2008) -- Mad Duckling Children's Theatre will venture deep into the jungles of India to explore the world of Rudyard Kipling's "Jungle Book" as adapted by Tim Kelly. Mad Duckling Theatre partners with Eugene Recreation Services to bring this fun family performance to Amazon Park for two weeks.
The action will follow Mowgli and his jungle teachers for an interactive examination of the jungle world and law. Meredith Ott, co-artistic director, describes the play as an exploration of the interactions among humans, animals and nature. It also follows Mowgli as he confronts his greatest fear in the form of a clever tiger. With the help of his jungle friends, and through the assistance of the audience, Mowgli faces his fear and reunites with his family in the man-village. "Jungle Book," Ott said, "is a tale of discovering who we are, confronting what might scare us and respecting all of the creatures of the world in which we live."
"Jungle Book" opens Tuesday, July 29, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 2, and again from Aug. 5 through Aug. 9. All performances begin at 11 a.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone over 2 years and $4 per person in groups of 10 or more. For advance purchase or to arrange group reservations, call 541-346-4192. Parking is free. Bring a blanket and enjoy the performance. Rain checks will be given in case of inclement weather.
Mad Duckling productions are intended for children three years and older and incorporate audience interaction.
Mad Duckling Summer Theatre is made possible through the support of the Associated Students of the University of Oregon.
