2008 Festival of New Spanish Cinema at UO
Eight Spanish film screenings and events with Goya award-winning director planned
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Nov. 14, 2008) -- The University of Oregon will host the Festival of New Spanish Cinema featuring eight award-winning films Nov. 17 to 23. All activities are open to the public. Six films will be shown free of charge on the UO campus. In addition, two films will be viewed at the Bijou Art Cinema, 492 E 13th Ave, for matinee price.

The festival will include two events with special guest and Goya award-winning film director Félix Viscarret on Tuesday, Nov. 18. From noon to 2 p.m. in the Mills International Center at the EMU, Viscarret will share his experiences and theories about filmmaking. He will also show his short films, "Dreamers" (1998), and "Winter Songs" (2004). Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided. In the evening, Viscarret will attend a prescreening reception to be followed by the showing of his new feature film “Under the Stars.” Light hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:45 p.m. and the film will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lawrence Hall 115.

• "In the City of Sylvia," Saturday, Nov. 22, noon matinée, Bijou Arts Cinema
• "Seven Billiards Tables," Saturday, Nov. 22, 7 p.m., Lawrence 115
• "Me," Sunday, Nov 23, noon matinée, Bijou Arts Cinema
