Sidewalk to close on Alder Street, between 16th and 18th avenues
Work on College of Education building nearing completion
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Jan. 27, 2009) -- The east sidewalk on Alder Street, between 16th and 18th avenues will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to allow for completion of work on the UO's College of Education construction project. The closure is expected to last through June. Community members are asked to safely use alternate routes through the area.
Work began in fall 2007 to renovate and expand the HEDCO Education Building. The project consists of adding 65,000 square feet and renovating 17,200 square feet. In addition, new courtyards, structured parking, and landscaping and site utilities improvements are part of the project. The project is scheduled to be completed this summer.
The new and renovated spaces will provide specialized spaces for teaching, assessment and therapeutic services along with a faculty research hub, student services center and learning commons. Integrated clinic facilities will serve the college's three clinical programs: communication disorders and sciences; couples and family therapy; and counseling psychology.
