UO film series features movies by Steven Spielberg
Series kicks off with 'E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial' on Jan. 29
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Jan. 16, 2009) -- "Directed by Steven Spielberg," a University of Oregon film series that investigates Spielberg's influence as a director and producer on the film industry and culture, will begin Thursday, Jan. 29 with "E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial." A UO graduate student will give a short talk before each movie, contextualizing the film's place within Spielberg's filmmaking career and the history of film itself.
The film series schedule for fall quarter is:
• "E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial," Jan. 29
• "Raiders of the Lost Ark," Feb. 5
• "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," Feb. 12
• "Jurassic Park," Feb. 26
• "Schindler's List," March 5
Movies start at 6 p.m. in Room 180 of Prince Lucien Campbell Hall (PLC), 1415 Kincaid St. The series, which is presented by the department of English, is free and open to the public.
