UO E-clips, March 26

Top stories for March 26, 2008: Hate for Love may inspire proper sports decorum, reports Bloomberg.com about the father whose son's mug in the crowd when UO played UCLA appeared in Sports Illustrated; something historic extraordinary, even historic, is how the Register-Guard described Barak Obama's March 21 appearance at UO

Hate for Love may inspire proper sports decorum (Bloomberg.com): You'd think a father would beam with pride at the sight of his son's mug in Sports Illustrated. And yet peeved, not prideful, best describes Armando Navarro, whose youngest, Michael, appeared front-and-center in photographic evidence of the boorish behavior exhibited by University of Oregon fans during their Jan. 24 game against UCLA.

Waiting for Obama (Register-Guard): You didn't have to be a supporter of Barack Obama to sense that something extraordinary, even historic, was occurring last Friday night at the University of Oregon's McArthur Court. More than 9,000 people packed Mac Court to its vintage rafters to hear a road-weary candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination hold forth on his trademark themes of unity and change.

Bob Doppelt and Roger Hamilton of the UO Climate Leadership Initiative went on video to talk about the recently released report featuring climate-change projections for Oregon's Rogue River Basin. Visit our VIDEO PAGE where -- in six videos -- Doppelt talks separately about planning and policy implications, and Hamilton speaks on overall impacts facing the basin, how agriculture, particularly pinot noir production, may be threatened, what may happen to the region's vegetation, and how salmon may be affected.
